The village Braunshausen is quietly located between the foothills of the Rothaarmountains, the eastern edge of the Sauerland bordering Hessen. Due to this favourable location, the village benefits from the best weatherconditions (Braunshausen has the most solar hours of the Hochsauerland) and one of the most beatiful landscapes of the Sauerland. It is not for nothing that this area is also called "Toscany of the Sauerland". From the Kreuzbergchapel you can admire this beautiful landscape.
The village has, among other things, a playground, midget golf, bowling alley, indoor swimmingpool, bbq place, "Themengarten/Open Air Fitnessplatz" and of course many beautiful hiking trails. The nearby village Rengershausen (2km) has an open-air swimming pool and in Hallenberg you will find an open-air nature swimming pool.
Also for the motorcyclists among us it is a beautiful area to ride with many winding roads.
The ski area "Skiliftkarussel Winterberg" (27 ski lifts) is 20km away. This is the largest and most cohesive ski resort in all of Sauerland. All lifts and descents are connected to each other. There are several toboggan runs and a snowboard funpark. The nearby "Snow-World" in Züschen (13km) counts 6 drag lifts and a toboggan run and snowtubing track.
